The New Food Pyramid - It Stinks
Hey there WFPB warriors. I posted this over the weekend:

The Fad Doctor That is Full of BS

Lately, I have been so alarmed about the misinformation floating around on the web - especially as it pertains to nutrition. I think what makes this topic so difficult to discuss is the fact that you may be having a conversation with someone on this topic and both will shake their head in agreement and yet each individual will have opposing views in mind while assuming they are in fact seeing alignment or agreement on what "misinformation" is. Which brings me to Dr. Aseem Malhotra. I believe he has done so much damage to milliions of individuals - touting that saturated fats do not cause heart disease (via high cholesterol and hence plaque build-up). He essentially ignores some of the most reputable, long-term data out there. Here is a critique from Dr. Gil Carvalho: https://youtu.be/HkRJn6CyoQM?si=dOXqbeaqUjhlw7IN. I wish he would have called out the work of Dr. Esselstyn - but worth…
No, but I’m adding it to mine, too! Brain health—even my own after a TBI—often feels beyond what research can reasonably cover with its compartmentalized approach.
A CrossFit Experiment that will blow your mind!
f you think being young and fit means you're immune to heart disease or diabetes, you need to see this data. We took 27 incredibly fit CrossFit athletes and tested their blood. We expected them to be perfect. Instead, we found high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and high glucose. But then... they made simple diet changes for five weeks. The results were so shocking, even the doctors were surprised. Our mission at Viva Longevity is to find scientists who can cut through the fog of misinformation and provide accurate nutrition guidance. Very well written, Joyce. You condense a lot of science into a short post. Wish you were in charge of national food policy! Of course you got the usual response from the misinformed (which almost certainly includes some bots). The SAD is so bad that, at least temporarily, a diet of meat and veggies can temporarily improve health. Once I had a work colleague who was a very lean and energetic, but on the Paleo diet. I asked her why Paleo, and she said she did it to support her fiancé, who had a lot of health issues, but lost weight and improved health on Paleo. They ate the same dinner every night - salmon and spinach! So I asked her what he ate before Paleo. The answer: fast food, hot dogs, chips, candy, ice cream, donuts, soda....No wonder Paleo was better for him, at least in the short run.
