Very well written, Joyce. You condense a lot of science into a short post. Wish you were in charge of national food policy! Of course you got the usual response from the misinformed (which almost certainly includes some bots). The SAD is so bad that, at least temporarily, a diet of meat and veggies can temporarily improve health. Once I had a work colleague who was a very lean and energetic, but on the Paleo diet. I asked her why Paleo, and she said she did it to support her fiancé, who had a lot of health issues, but lost weight and improved health on Paleo. They ate the same dinner every night - salmon and spinach! So I asked her what he ate before Paleo. The answer: fast food, hot dogs, chips, candy, ice cream, donuts, soda....No wonder Paleo was better for him, at least in the short run.
