Meet Lee Kurisko, MD

Health & Wellness Coach

I presently work as diagnostic radiologist but started my medical career as a family practice doctor in Canada. Additionally, I have completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology and certification in anti-aging medicine. My diverse background includes both hospital and healthcare leadership roles and I have served on a Presidential Healthcare Advisory Committee for a previous administration.

I have always been interested in health and fitness. In fact for a brief period, I was on a path to becoming a pro bodybuilder with the support of the bodybuilding community. The commitment, however, would have conflicted with my medical studies so I abandoned that goal but I have never stopped strength training. Today my entire fitness routine has been informed by better nutrition and technique.

Meet Joyce Kurisko, MBA

Health & Wellness Coach

My "healthcare" odyssey began at the age of 18. I was involved in a traumatic farming accident that almost cost me life and limb. After several reconstructive surgeries, I became interested in healthcare and decided to pursue a career along that path.  Early on, I had an interest in paramedic training but opted to pursue the pharma/med device industry after completing my undergraduate degree.

15 to 20 years later, I moved into health insurance, quality, revenue cycle, and then back to the sciences via sales roles related to genetic testing. At one point, I became quite interested in the big picture. Who pays for all of this stuff? How much does it cost? And who benefits? My quest to answer these questions resulted in my pursuit of an MBA in addition to my small efforts aimed at fixing (and fighting) the system via patient advocacy and support for a sustainable healthcare policy.

The 4 Essential Pillars of Aspirational Aging

Why Whole Food Plan Based?

Green Goodness

Digestion

Inadequate dietary fiber is the associated with chronic constipation, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, and gall stones. The only source of fiber in the human diet is from plants. Over 90 percent of the U.S. population suffers from deficient fiber intake.

Cardiovascular Health

The only diet ever proven to arrest and reverse heart disease is a WFPB diet. Patients with severe heart disease can improve symptoms (such as angina) in as little as two weeks. Within months, the progression of heart disease can be arrested and in some cases reversed.

Diabetes

Both pre-diabetes and type II diabetes can be completely reversed with a WFPB lifestyle in most cases. Within weeks (and possibly days) you'll notice improvement in your blood sugar and other parameters used to monitor your diabetes. Don't settle for a lifetime of pills, and potential neuropathies and worse. Take control of your health with the only nutritional approach proven to reverse diabetes.

Weight Management

A WFPB lifestyle is the most effective way to attain and maintain an ideal body weight long term. "Keto" diets in the short term may promote faster weight loss initially but studies show that the short term gain is due to water and muscle loss. Populations with normal BMI are almost exclusively WFPB.

Brain Health

As little as one half cup of green leafy vegetables daily has been shown to reduce Alzheimers risk by 60%. The Standard American Diet (SAD) can accelerate brain aging.

Cancer Prevention

Traditional diets around the world that are WFPB have been associated with much lower rates of cancer than what we see in the U.S. A plant based diet has even been shown to slow disease progression.

Testimonials

I have worked with Dr. Lee Kurisko for many years, and he has always impressed me as an individual who keeps himself fit and active despite a very challenging job. After discussing his trade secrets with me I adopted a whole food plant-based diet, and I have never felt better! As a working mom of three very active kids, it's important for me to have the energy and stamina to keep up with their schedules, and to be as healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally as I can be. Dr. Kurisko has even helped me find ways to make healthy choices when I'm on the go, which was the most important part for me. He has been a great inspiration and is so knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. I have enjoyed a whole food plant-based diet for almost five years now and I'll never go back!
