Let's - A Poem by Jarod K Anderson

Let's be exhausted together

Let's laugh about it.

Let's clasp each other like two strangers

who just saw a horror pass by.

Let's ugly cry over the sink.

Let's eat the baking chocolate.

I love this poet and author. This post reminds me he was scheduled to have a new novel out about this time! Will look it up.

Reductionist approaches

The nutrition book that transformed my worldview of the body and nutrition and other lifestyle factors is Whole, by T Colin Campbell, PhD. If you have not read it in a while, I very highly recommend it. The problem with virtually all current popular approaches to health and nutrition is how simplistic they are, how reductionist. People argue about nutrient A vs. nutrient B for disease C. If we can get across to our audience the complexity of the body, and how A vs. B vs. C discussions are not going to be particularly helpful, we might make more progress.

According to Dr. Campbell what counts is the overall Pattern! It's taken some time, but I've reoriented myself to seeing our bodies in so much complexity, and we are learning more every day.

Hi Janice! So great to see you here:). Just a shoutout to your podcast interview with Lee:

Are Cold Plunges Really that Beneficial?

Not according to NutritionFacts.org

Our neighbors up north swear by it. I am only ever tempted after a hot sauna and I will say it provides a sense of euphoria. However, you will not find me in Canada this month jumping into an icy cold lake - even if Lee bore a hole big enough!!

What say you?

Don't Let the Exterior Fool You

Hi everyone — I’ve just completed the full manuscript for my upcoming book, which explores whole-food, plant-based nutrition, fitness, and chronic disease through the lens of a diagnostic radiologist. After decades of reading scans, the patterns are unmistakable: lifestyle choices quietly shape health long before disease ever becomes a diagnosis.

Prediabetic, High Cholesterol, Elevated ApoB
Prediabetic, High Cholesterol, Elevated ApoB

I’m now in full edit mode, refining the message with a focus on clarity, evidence, and practicality. In parallel, I’m also involved in a forthcoming cancer documentary that examines prevention, overtreatment, and the role lifestyle plays in long-term outcomes — themes that deeply overlap with the conversations we’ll be having here.

This community exists to ask better questions, challenge outdated assumptions, and support one another with science-based, compassionate discussion. I’m glad you’re here and look forward to engaging with you as we learn together.

BTW - what do you think of this for a title: Reading Between the Scans

What…

The title is cute. Not sure if it will be compelling to potential readers. Your publisher will undoubtedly have input into a compelling title for health-focused but nontechnical readers. Maybe something with the thought of Watching Disease Develop. Or seeing the picture, or something like that?

Home!

I am so glad to be home for a bit till my next trip!! Traveling is wonderful but there is no place like home!

Hope everyone is well and I look forward to following and joining this discussion page!

Hello Ann Marie,

I hope you will consider jumping back into the group conversation. Unfortunately, Lee and I got distracted with other projects and never fed this opportunity to collaborate here. Our bad:( I hope you do return with pics, recipes and insights of your own. Happy 2026!
